BELFIELD, North Dakota (Tuesday June 26th, 2018) – Meridian Energy Group, Inc., the leading developer of innovative and environmentally-compliant oil refining facilities, today announced the hiring of three key management personnel for the Davis Refinery: Dr. Annand Karre, Miguel A. Martinez and William Bayard. Having successfully secured the Permit to Construct (“PTC”) for the Davis Refinery earlier this month, Meridian is quickly moving ahead to strengthen not only its Environmental Engineering team, but also Refinery Operations. Each new member brings extensive knowledge and unique expertise to the innovative Meridian project.

Dr. Annand Karre, an environmental regulatory compliance engineer, brings comprehensive experience in both emission event regulations as well as reporting requirements. Dr. Karre will hold the position of Associate Environmental Manager, a critical role in the Davis Refinery maintaining its position in history as the first refinery of its complexity to qualify as a synthetic minor source. Dr. Karre possesses a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Environmental Engineering from Texas A & M University.

Miguel A. Martinez was appointed as the Environmental Safety & Health Director of Meridian’s Environmental Engineering team. An experienced environmental engineer, Martinez brings an impressive and proven track record of successful work in chemical engineering, refining, and mining industries. In fact, in his previous position with Zia Engineering & Environmental Consultants, Martinez has played a critical role in the modeling and air quality permitting process for the Davis Refinery PTC. Mr. Martinez holds a Chemical Engineering degree from New Mexico State University.

Meridian has also bolstered its Davis Refinery Execution team with the edition of William Bayard. Mr. Bayard will serve as Project Manager for Davis Phase 1 and brings 35 years of experience in project management in the oil and gas energy sectors, having held roles as a Facility Engineer as well as a Program Director. Mr. Bayard has managed world-class facilities in upstream onshore and offshore production, downstream refining, chemical and geothermal industries.
